Tribute session dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Union of Principalities
\nIasi January 22-23, 2009<\/a><\/p>\n

AD<\/p>\n

The Department of Historical Sciences and Archeology of the Academy of Romanian Scientists<\/p>\n

announces with deep sorrow the end of life on November 4, 2009,<\/p>\n

of the university professor doctor Iuliu-Adrian Paul,<\/p>\n

outstanding personality of the Romanian and European science and culture.<\/p>\n

Over the years, Professor Iuliu-Adrian Paul<\/p>\n

was noted for his outstanding contributions to ancient history and archeology,<\/p>\n

as well as his quality as a teacher and organizer,<\/p>\n

being also the first rector of the University 1 December 1918<\/em> from Alba Iulia.<\/p>\n

We keep a vivid memory of the very special role he played<\/p>\n

in the organization and good conduct of the scientific symposium<\/p>\n

of the Academy of Romanian Scientists at this university,<\/p>\n

on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Great Union of 1918.<\/p>\n

Professor Iuliu-Adrian Paul left us just as we were preparing a compendium of Romanian History, to which he would make a substantial scientific contribution.<\/p>\n

We extend our condolences to the family and all those close to him.<\/p>\n
