Lecturer (Venia Legendi), University of Mainz &#8211; Germany (1968); lecturer at the University of Bucharest (title not yet confirmed by the Supreme Diploma Commission, 1974).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Professional activity:<\/strong> within the Theoretical Physics Department of the Institute of Atomic Physics, Bucharest &#8211; M\u0103gurele: physicist (1955-1960), scientific researcher (1960-1962), main scientific researcher (1962-1970), head of Theoretical Physics Section (1970- 1974), principal scientific researcher (1974-1983). <em>Abroad<\/em>: Visited scientist at the Nils Bohr Institute, Copenhagen, Denmark (1968-1969), Deputy Director of the Nuclear Reaction Laboratory of the Unified Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna-USSR (1974-1977), Deputy Director, Unified Institute for Nuclear Research , Dubna, USSR (1983-1986), Visiting Professor at the University of Helsinki, Finland (1955-1960); visiting professor at Mainz University, RF Germany (1967-1968); visiting professor at the Darmstadt Polytechnic Institute, RF Germany (3 months \/ year 1969-1973); visiting professor at the University of Frankfurt \/ Main, RF Germany (2 months \/ year 1978-1982); Visiting Professor at the University of Frankfurt \/ Main, RF Germany (2 months \/ year 1988-1990). He has lectured in over 80 different science centers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scientific activity:<\/strong> focused on theoretical nuclear physics, performing (alone or in collaboration) over 300 scientific papers, which can be grouped into: <strong>1.<\/strong> <em>Microscopic theory of alpha decay<\/em> <strong>2.<\/strong> <em>Prediction of new radioactivity<\/em> <strong>3.<\/strong> <em>Experimental discovery of neon emission radioactivity<\/em> <strong>4.<\/strong> <em>Experimental discovery of<\/em> Ba, Ce, Zr, Mo emission radioactivity <em>etc., by triple coincidence with<\/em> <em>g<\/em> -rays <em>in spontaneous fission without neutron emission<\/em> <sup>252<\/sup> Cf <strong>5.<\/strong> <em>Experimental discovery of cold alpha thermal fission of<\/em> <sup>252<\/sup> Cf. Various papers containing scientific results on research directions in theoretical physics: <em>Dynamics of the static model of the atomic nucleus<\/em> ; <em>The influence of uniparticle effects on nuclear reactions<\/em> ; <em>Generalization of the Nilson model for non-axial states, Cluster<\/em> <em>transfer reactions in heavy ion collisions,<\/em> etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Publications:<\/strong> the book <em>Elements of Core Theory<\/em> (1966); over 300 scientific papers, of which more than 100 have been published abroad, including: <em>Theoretical substantiation of a new type of intermediate decay between alpha decay and nuclear fission<\/em> , <em>Experimental discovery of neon decay<\/em> , <em>Microscopic explanation of alpha decay, Prediction of new types of radioactivity, Experimental discovery of new types of radioactivity by gamma quantum coincidence in spontaneous neutron-free fission of <sup>252<\/sup> Cf, Prediction and experimental discovery of Helium-4 and Beryllium-10 in ternary fission cold at <sup>252<\/sup> Cf. <\/em>Approximately 1800 ISI citations of published works.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Awards:<\/strong> Romanian Academy Award (1966) for <em>the Microscopic Theory of Alpha Disintegration<\/em> , First Prize of the Dubna Unified Institute for Nuclear Research, USSR (1987), for the discovery <em>of neon radioactivity<\/em> .<\/p>\n<p><strong>Affiliations: <\/strong>corresponding member of the Romanian Academy (1991). Full member of the Romanian Academy (March 12, 1992). President of the Romanian Physics Society (1992). Vice President of the Romanian Academy (1994-1998). President of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Atomic Physics (1993-1998). Member of the Romanian Parliament (1998-2000). Doctor honoris causa, Joint Institute of Nuclear Physics Dubna, Russia (2003). Member of the editorial board of national physics journals: <em>Studies and research in physics<\/em> and <em>Revue roumaine de physique<\/em> .
